Ratings: Final Season Premiere of The Closer Draws 7.2 Million Viewers

The Closer's seventh and final season premiere closed the deal for 7.23 million viewers, basic cable's biggest audience for a drama series, year to date. But Monday's biggest audience on cable? History's Pawn Stars, delivering 7.58 million at 10:30.

Nielsen figures also showed that the Season 2 debut of Rizzoli & Isles, which followed The Closer Monday at 10 on TNT, nabbed 6.38 million viewers. At the same hour, Major League Baseball's "Legends and Celebrities" softball game on ESPN was lobbed to 6.78 million fans.

Meanwhile, Alphas became the most-watched Syfy series debut in two years, finding some 2.5 million viewers. Syfy said it had its biggest Monday night audience for scripted series in more than 10 years, as the Season 3 premiere of Warehouse 13 snagged 2.3 million viewers at 9, Eureka's return at 8 grabbed 2 million.

Nickelodeon also was able to crow on Tuesday about how The Fairly OddParents scored 5.8 million total viewers with Saturday's premiere of A Fairly Odd Movie: Grow Up, Timmy Turner! — making it the No. 1 original movie on basic cable with kids and total viewers this year.
