Chicago Fire surged to a series high Wednesday.
Facing a CSI repeat and a Nashville recap special, the NBC drama drew 8.4 million viewers and a 2.4 rating in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, up 26 percent from its last original two weeks ago.

Airing all originals, NBC saw huge spikes for all of its shows. Whitney (5 million, 1.8) grew 29 percent, Guys with Kids (4.3 million, 1.7) rose 21 percent, and Law & Order: SVU (7.7 million, 2.1) matched its best rating since November 2011.
Fox was the only other network to air fresh episodes and averaged 3 million viewers and a 1.1 for its double dose of Mobbed.
