Ratings: How Did Arrow, Nashville and Chicago Fire Do?

Stephen Amell

Nashville got off to a decent start Wednesday, but it was Arrow that really hit the ratings mark.

The CW superhero series drew 4 million viewers and a 1.3 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic, making it the network's most-watched series premiere since The Vampire Diaries' debut in 2009. Lead-out Supernatural (2.6 million, 1.0) saw a two-tenths bump.

Arrow also tied NBC's ailing comedy lineup, Animal Practice (3.9 million, 1.1) and Guys with Kids (4.2 million, 1.4), in total viewers in the 8 o'clock hour and in the 18-to-49 and 18-to-34 demos.

Meanwhile, ABC's Nashville bowed to 9 million viewers and a 2.8 to win the 10 o'clock hour, easily trumping fellow newbie Chicago Fire (6.4 million, 1.9). The country music drama is down from Revenge's premiere numbers in the slot last season and dropped considerably from its one-hour Modern Family lead-in (12 million, 4.8). Chicago Fire, on the other hand, built on Law & Order: SVU's (6.2 million, 1.8) numbers.

Fox won the night with The X Factor (9.4 million, 3.4), falling just a tenth from last week, but Modern Family was the top show of the night. The ABC comedy's lead-ins The Middle (7.8 million, 2.4) and The Neighbors (6.3 million, 1.9) were up and flat, respectively.

CBS topped the night in viewership, with Survivor (9.6 million, 2.6), Criminal Minds (11.4 million, 3.0), both of which dipped a tenth, and CSI (10.6 million, 2.6), which gained a tenth.
