American Idol averaged 23.57 million viewers for its latest episode — about the same as last week. Wednesday's two-hour show, which featured songs by Elton John, scored a 7.5 rating among 18-to-49-year-olds.

In prime time's first hour, CBS' Survivor: Redemption Island attracted 10.56 million people up against two reruns of ABC's The Middle, which averaged about 5 million viewers, Minute to Win It at 4.22 million on NBC and the CW's America's Next Top Model, which drew 2.15 million viewers.
At 9/8c, a new Criminal Minds took the hour with 12.85 million viewers. A rerun of ABC's Modern Family fell to its typical rerun viewership, 5.39 million, after getting 10.8 million viewers for a fresh episode last week. Mr. Sunshine, which followed, inches closer to cancellation with just 4.08 million. In the same hour, a repeat of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit tallied 3.58 million, while Shedding for the Wedding attracted 983,000 on the CW.

CBS' Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior took the last hour of prime time, getting 9.34 million compared with 8.3 million for another rerun of NBC's SVU. Third: ABC's Off the Map (4.17 million).
