Pulp Fiction Writer Roger Avary Jailed

Roger Avary, who won an Oscar for co-writing Pulp Fiction, has been removed from a work furlough program and transferred to a California jail, The Associated Press reports.
The move comes days after The Los Angeles Times questioned whether Avary was using Twitter from jail. Ventura County sheriff's spokesman Capt. Ross Bonfiglio told the AP that Avary was incarcerated over "security issues," not his use of Twitter. Avary's attorney, Mark Werskman, also denied tweeting caused his client to be put behind bars.

Avary was sentenced in September to a year and five months in jail after pleading guilty to vehicular manslaughter for a January 2008 drunken driving car crash that killed a passenger and injured Avary's wife. Instead of jail time, Avary had been serving time through a work furlough program, which allowed him to go to work during the day and stipulated he return to the furlough facility on nights and weekends. He started tweeting about his experiences in October. Avary has since made his tweets private.
In addition to co-writing Pulp Fiction, Avary, 44, wrote the screenplays for The Rules of Attraction and Beowulf.
