Previewing Dexter's Killer Finale

Dexter

Girls are being raped, tortured and stuffed into barrels. A self-help guru named Jordan (Jonny Lee Miller) is definitely up to no good. And somehow, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) and his new partner-in-crime, Lumen (Julia Stiles), are finding time for a little nookie.

It's been a bloody good run this season on Dexter, and the finale is shaping up to be a jab-and-stabber of epic proportions. "Usually, Dexter is alone in seeking vengeance, but now he's got Lumen at his side so it's double the trouble," says executive producer Sara Colleton.

Last year's shocking finale found Dex's wife, Rita, dead in a bathtub of blood; and while this season's ender isn't out to match that one ("We didn't want to resort to pulling stunts just to top ourselves," Colleton says), it will certainly be memorable. "Lumen's a very strong figure and a powerful challenge to Dexter," Colleton says. "Whatever happens in the finale" — and no, she wouldn't offer hints other than "someone dies" — "it's going to go down with a good deal of intense drama and raw human emotion."

Oh, we wouldn't expect anything less from this crowd.

Dexter airs Sunday at 9/8c on Showtime.
