Pilot Season: Nestor Carbonell Signs On to ABC's The Smart One — What About Ringer?

Ringer's Nestor Carbonell has joined the cast of ABC's The Smart One pilot, TVGuide.com has confirmed. TVLine.com first reported the news.
Executive-produced by Don Todd and Ellen DeGeneres, the comedy stars Arrested Development's Portia de Rossi as Jude, a brilliant and successful woman who begrudgingly ends up working for her ditzy beauty queen sister Candy (Malin Akerman), a big-city mayor.

Carbonell is set to play Jude's ex, a wealthy real estate developer. He'll only officially appear as a guest star in the pilot. We're hearing he has an option to recur, which would be a second-position casting to Ringer.
As previously reported, Jean Smart will star as Jude and Candy's mom, and David Arquette will play Candy's husband, Buddy.
Carbonell currently stars as Victor Machado on CW's Ringer. He previously played Richard Alpert on Lost.
