Tom Cruise is channeling his inner rockstar in this first released photo of the upcoming film adaptation of Broadway's Rock of Ages.
"Ladies and gents: first look at tom cruise as stacee jaxx! First day of shooting!" director Adam Shankman tweeted on Friday with the picture.
Bryan Cranston tapped for Rock of Ages
In the big-screen version of the Tony-nominated musical, Sherrie, played by Julianne Hough, is a small-town girl who moves to Los Angeles to follow her dreams of becoming an actress. There, she catches the eye of charming but arrogant star Stacee Jaxx (Cruise). The cast also includes Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, Paul Giamatti, Bryan Cranston and Mary J. Blige.

The film will feature hit songs from '80s bands Bon Jovi, Styx, Twisted Sister and Poison. From the look of the photo, Cruise is ready for his transformation with the long hair and no shirt.
