Philip Seymour Hoffman Offered Role in Catching Fire

Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman might be heading to Panem. The actor has received an official offer to play Plutarch Heavensbee in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

If Hoffman accepts, he will play the replacement for Seneca Crane (Wes Bentley), the Head Gamemaker who came to an untimely end in the previous film.

Hunger Games Sequel Catching Fire Catches a Director

Hoffman's offer came on Monday, the same day the actor split with his agency of 18-years, Paradigm.

Lionsgate hopes to start filming the anticipated sequel in September. Francis Lawrence will be taking over for original Hunger Games director Gary Ross. Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth are all slated to reprise their roles as Katniss, Peeta and Gale.

What do you think of Hoffman playing Plutarch? Would you follow him into the rebellion? Or will you be too busy pining over the loss of Seneca's epic beard?
