Report: Paul Brittain Leaving SNL

Paul Brittain, Saturday Night Live

Paul Brittain is leaving Saturday Night Live effective immediately, Entertainment Weekly reports.

The comedian "had the opportunity to pursue other projects, and he and the show parted ways amicably," a source tells the magazine. An e-mail to NBC was not immediately returned.

Brittain joined SNL in September 2010 as a featured player and was known for playing Lord Cecil Wyndemere, and his impressions of Johnny Depp and James Franco.

SNL returns with a new episode this week with host Channing Tatum and musical guest Bon Iver.
