Patrick Wilson Confirms A Gifted Man Cancellation: "I Couldn't Be Happier"

Patrick Wilson, A Gifted Man

It looks like Patrick Wilson won't be going back to TV anytime soon.

The star of A Gifted Man confirmed the series' cancellation on Twitter late Saturday, and he seemed surprisingly happy about the bad news.

Fall TV scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?

"So...shocking to no one: A Gifted Man is done. Found out via email...and not from the network. Stay classy. Thanks to AGM fans! Great cast/crew," Wilson tweeted.

A few minutes later, Wilson added: "Thanks for the AGM love...but now that it's 'official,' I couldn't be happier. As good as it was (sometimes) it was not what I signed on for."

Although it's unknown what exactly Wilson is referring to, this was his first foray into network TV after making a name for himself on the stage and in independent films like Little Children and Insidious.

It was also a bumpy road for A Gifted Man, which had been struggling on Friday nights since its premiere in September and only had a 16-episode first season — compared to most network series' 22-episode seasons.
