Time to break out the pink bowties!
Starz's short-lived cult comedy series Party Down may be getting resurrected as a big-screen movie, according to co-creator and executive producer Rob Thomas. Thomas broke the news during a special Party Down reunion held this past weekend at the Alamo Drafthouse in Texas.
"People are talking to us about doing a Party Down movie, and we are pretty far down the deal-making process with that," Thomas told the crowd. "Ideally, if it works out, we could be shooting in television hiatus time next spring. So hopefully that deal will close, and we'll all tweet about it when it does."
Starz cancels Party Down
Party Down, starring Adam Scott, Lizzy Caplan, Jane Lynch and Megan Mullally, followed a group of young Hollywood hopefuls trying to make ends meet by working as caterers. The show aired from March 2009 to June 2010 on Starz before it was canceled due to poor ratings.
Since the show's cancellation, Scott has joined the cast of Parks and Recreation, and Lynch — who left after Season 1 to work on Glee — is now an Emmy winner and will host this year's ceremony. No word yet on who exactly from the cast would participate in the film.

The big question is, however, whether the Party Down movie can beat the release of the oft-rumored Arrested Development movie. Consider yourself warned, Mitchell Hurwitz.
