During the final week of Oprah Winfrey's talk show, the host will revisit one of her most controversial interviews.
Winfrey will again sit down with author James Frey over the course of two episodes set to air May 16 and 17, the Associated Press reports.
Oprah apologizes to James Frey
In September 2005, Winfrey chose Frey's substance abuse story A Million Little Pieces for her book club as a shining example of a "brutally honest" memoir. As allegations surfaced that parts of Frey's book were untrue, she invited the author on her show to set the record straight. He admitted to fabricating portions of his book, and Winfrey declared that she, among millions of readers, were betrayed.
Years later, Winfrey called Frey to apologize for the angry, public confrontation. "It was a nice surprise to hear from her, and I really appreciated the call and the sentiment," Frey told Vanity Fair at the time. "When I heard her say, 'I felt I owe you an apology,' I was very grateful."
The Oprah Winfrey Show will air its final episode on May 25 after 25 years.
