Paul Coelho, Oprah Winfrey
You can already feel the "Aha!" moments. Oprah Winfrey returns Sept. 7 with her Emmy-winning OWN series Super Soul Sunday (11 a.m./10c) and is kicking off the new season with a major "get." Winfrey's first guest is Paulo Coelho, author of the international mega-blockbuster The Alchemist, which at last count has sold 65 million copies.
The two-part conversation, concluding Sept. 14, was conducted at Coelho's home in Geneva, Switzerland, and marks his first interview ever on American television. Other Super Soul guests this season include actress and spiritual seeker Ali MacGraw (Oct. 5), author and Tibetan Buddhist nun Pema Chödrön (Oct. 12) and ad executive Madonna Badger (Oct. 19), who lost her parents and three daughters in a Christmas Day fire in 2011.
Also coming to OWN Sept. 7 is a new Super Soul companion series, Help Desk (Sundays, noon, 11/c), in which host Gotham Chopra takes some of the world's top spiritual leaders onto the street, literally sits them down at a desk, and allows the public to ask them questions about health, spirituality and personal transformation. Chopra's advice squad includes his father, mind-body wellness pioneer Deepak Chopra, plus authors Iyanla Vanzant, Panache Desai, Carolyn Myss, Cheryl Strayed and Gary Zukav, as well as Agape International Spiritual Center founder Michael Bernard Beckwith, Seventh Day Adventist preacher Devon Franklin and progressive pastor Rob Bell.
Clearly, Sunday is no day of rest for Winfrey! Also returning Sept. 7 is her Emmy-winning primetime series Oprah's Lifeclass (9/8c). First up is her powwow with comedian, talk-show host and bestselling author Steve Harvey, who will offer life lessons from his new book, Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success: Discovering Your Gift and the Way to Life's Riches.
