Once Upon a Time
The Evil Queen might actually find love again!
Ever since Once Upon a Time revealed that Regina's (Lana Parrilla) true love was a mystery man with a lion tattoo, fans have been desperate to actually see the former villain-turned-ally meet her destiny in Robin Hood (Sean Maguire). Unfortunately, their meet-cute in the Enchanted Forest wasn't quite what viewers were hoping for, but fear not. The duo will come together for the first time in Storybrooke this Sunday (8/7c, ABC) in a very different way.
Once Upon a Time's Lana Parrilla debunks big theory, teases wickedness ahead
"In fairy tale land, we saw that Regina is completely oblivious to Robin Hood," Parrilla tells TVGuide.com. "The thought of him possibly liking her would never cross her mind, nor is she open to that in fairy tale land at all. In Storybrooke, it's a different story. [The relationships are] nothing alike, which is cool because when we go back and forth, there's all this frustration and being odds with one another in fairy tale land, then you flash forward to Storybrooke and they're a little more open to it. It's a nice contrast. It was fun for me to play. Sean kept going, 'OK, so now we hate each other.' 'We hate each other in this world at this time, but in the future...'"
However, they're not quite ready to jump into a relationship. After all, there's a Wicked Witch (Rebecca Mader) terrorizing the town that needs to be dealt with. But there are also other factors standing in their way. "She's terrified," Parrilla explains. "She's afraid to open her heart and afraid to let love in. She hasn't done it in forever since Daniel [Noah Bean]. I think she's afraid to lose again — and I don't mean lose like she won't get the guy, but lose him. So many things have been taken away from her and there's been so much loss that she doesn't believe that it will sustain or that this love has the potential to be as deep and real as she dreamt of having for herself."

Still, there couldn't be a better time emotionally for Regina to finally let someone else in now that she's no longer the big bad in town. "There's so much that's really cool about Regina right now that I really love," Parrilla says. "She's come full circle. She's had a beautiful arc from where she used to be as this Evil Queen and going through that second year of redemption to this third year of becoming this hero. She's really come out on top. She's become this really full, well-rounded human being."
Do you hope Regina and Robin Hood get together?
Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8/7c on ABC.
