Yvette Nicole Brown

Community's Yvette Nicole Brown has booked a very odd new gig.

The actress has joined CBS' upcoming Odd Couple remake in a recurring role, TVGuide.com has confirmed.

Fall TV: Familiar faces in new places

Brown takes over the role of Oscar's assistant, Dani, which was formerly played by  Sarah Baker (Go On) in the original pilot. Baker and New Normal alum Georgia King exited in May as part of a creative retooling. Matthew Perry stars as Oscar in the series, and will also co-write and executive-produce the comedy, a modern retelling of the 1965 Neil Simon play. Thomas Lennon, Lindsay Sloane and Wendell Pierce will also star.

Dani is described as a tactful and polished woman who is forced to spend most of her workday apologizing for Oscar's offensive ways. However, Dani has little (aka zero) short-term memory.

90s shows that need to make a comeback

However, Community fans needn't worry about Brown's new role. She will still reprise her role as Shirley on the new season of the canceled NBC comedy, which was resurrected by Yahoo in June for 13 new episodes.

The Odd Couple is expected to premiere at midseason on CBS.
