And then there was one: Nicki Minaj has also exited American Idol, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Hours after news broke on Thursday that Mariah Carey would be leaving the Fox reality singing competition, Minaj took to Twitter to say that she was also exiting. "Thank you American Idol for a life changing experience! Wouldn't trade it for the world! Time to focus on the Music!!! Mmmuuuaahhh!!!" she wrote.
5 changes American Idol needs to make in Season 13
"Nicki Minaj is a superstar who brought a level of honesty and passion to American Idol and who had a tremendous positive impact on so many contestants this season," Fox said in a statement. "Given her extremely busy career, we understand and respect her decision and wish her the best."
Minaj, who joined the judging panel in Season 12, was known for being bluntly honest — sometimes too honest -- in her critiques, but also clashed frequently with Carey.
The news follows reports that Idol's Season 13 may feature alums as judges, after which both Carey and original judge Randy Jackson announced they wouldn't be returning next season. There's still no word on whether Keith Urban will be back.
