Nick Nolte is looking like a good bet for HBO's new series.
The two-time Oscar nominee is in final negotiations to join Dennis Farina, Dustin Hoffman and John Ortiz in the network's horseracing pilot Luck, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Samantha Who? alum Kevin Dunn, Rome star Kerry Condon and actor Tom Payne also have joined the ensemble show that focuses on Hoffman's character, who concocts a scheme involving a racetrack after he is released from prison.
Nolte, 69, would portray the trainer of a top racehorse. Dunn is attached to play a ringmaster of a group of misfits, while Condon will co-star as the exercise rider who is interested in Bug Boy (Payne), an apprentice jockey.

Luck would mark Nolte's first TV project since his breakthrough performance on the 1976 miniseries Rich Man, Poor Man, for which he earned an Emmy nomination.
Luck is executive-produced by Michael Mann, David Milch, Carolyn Strauss and Henry Bronchtein.
