In a return to his roots, Nick Cannon will don his comedian hat for Nick Cannon: Mr. Showbiz, airing Sunday, May 14 at 9/8c on Showtime. The multi-hyphenate's first comedy special will cover his fame, his rise to it and, of course, his marriage to Mariah Carey, whose twins Cannon says are due "any day now."

Though his recent career has taken a more entrepreneurial and radio-centered turn, Cannon pointed out to The Hollywood Reporter that he got his start performing standup. At age 15, he performed at venues like The Laugh Factory and The Improv. By 17, he was a staff writer for the Nickelodeon comedy-variety show All That, on which he also appeared.
The special may offer a peek at Cannon's experience with not just his fame, but that which comes as result of his wife's. "I love being married to one of the most famous people in the world," he says. "But the downfall is people feel like they can say whatever they want to say about my wife to my face. So I hear the strangest things. But that lends itself to a lot of great humor." The potential for absurdity seems great.
