NCIS will address the recent passing of veteran actor Ralph Waite, who recurred as Gibbs' (Mark Harmon) father Jackson, in the upcoming Season 11 finale, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
"[Showrunner Gary Glasberg] and the writers are working on something special to address the passing of Ralph Waite in the season finale of NCIS to honor both the memory of Ralph, as well as the character of Jackson Gibbs," a CBS spokesperson said.

Best known for playing The Waltons' beloved patriarch, Waite made his NCIS debut in Season 6. Waite also recurred on Bones as Booth's grandfather. It's unclear if the Fox drama will also address his passing.
NCIS returns Tuesday at 8/7c on CBS.
