NBC has committed to a pilot for a period drama about Cleopatra, Deadline reports.

The drama will focus on the love triangle of Cleopatra, Mark Anthony and Julius Caesar in ancient Egypt, according to the report.

Though the Egyptian queen was a character on HBO's Rome, there has not been a television series about her specifically up to this point. A film version of Cleopatra's life, the latest of several, is reportedly in the works, starring Angelina Jolie.

The pilot will be written by Michael Seitzman, who also wrote ABC's Americana pilot. Executive-producing will be Seitzman, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Dan McDermott.
