NBC and Pushing Daisies Creator Team Up to Bring Hannibal Lecter to the Small Screen

Anthony Hopkins

NBC is working with Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller on a potential Hannibal TV series, Deadline reports.

Fuller is developing a script based on The Silence of the Lambs character Hannibal Lecter played by Anthony Hopkins. If NBC executives like the script, the project would skip the pilot stage entirely and go directly into series production, according to the site.

The show would also be executive produced by Martha De Laurentiis, who also produced the three feature films featuring Hannibal Lecter following The Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal, Red Dragon and Hannibal Rising). Including Lambs, the Hannibal Lecter films have grossed more than $900 million at the box office. The character was originally based off a series of horror novels written by Thomas Harris.

Fuller is also working with NBC on a possible Munsters revival, which looks like it may become a summer series or event series for NBC, according to Deadline.
