The Office's Greg Daniels adapting another British comedy
An adaptation of the British series, Friday Night Dinner chronicles the Shabbat dinners of a traditional Jewish family, who aren't necessarily devout. The West Wing alum Janney will play Barbara, who is beginning to succumb to the immaturity of her all-male family. Monk's Shalhoub will portray Gene, a hard-of-hearing retired food chemist who's socially inept.
Directed by Ken Kwapis, the pilot will be executive-produced by Daniels and Howard Klein.
The British version airs on BBC America and was renewed for a second season earlier this year.
