MythBusters Launches Destructive Cannonball Into Neighborhood

Science took a dangerous turn Tuesday when the Mythbusters team had an experiment go awry.

The Discovery Channel show was testing out a ballistics experiment when their cannon misfired and launched a cannonball into a California neighborhood just east of San Francisco, the Los Angeles Times reports.

MythBusters frontmen Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman weren't present for the experiment, but colleagues Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara were there when the cannon was shot from the police firing range in Dublin, Calif., in the presence of an explosives expert. Despite following all safety protocol, the cannonball tore through one home, bounced off another and smashed through the window of a parked car.
