Dermot Mulroney has been cast as the new Jim Rockford in NBC's Rockford Files remake, Entertainment Weekly reports.
Mulroney, 46, steps into the role made famous by James Garner during the series' original run from 1974 to 1980.
NBC picks up dramas from David E. Kelley, Jerry Bruckheimer
Aside from a multi-episode arc on Friends in the show's ninth season, Mulroney is best known for his big-screen roles in My Best Friend's Wedding and The Family Stone.
The reboot's pilot was written by House creator David Shore and will be executive produced by Shore and Steve Carell.
