Molly Ringwald

Molly Ringwald, '80s movie teen queen, thinks that Duckie, her ostensible love interest in Pretty in Pink, was gay.

"Duckie doesn't know he's gay. I think he loves Andie in the way that [my gay best friend] always loved me. That ending fell so flat -- it bombed at all the screenings," Ringwald says in an interview with Out.com. "I didn't realize it then -- I just knew that my character shouldn't end up with him, because we didn't have that sort of chemistry. If John [Hughes] was here now, and I could talk to him, I think that he would completely acknowledge that."

But the man who plays Duckie, Two and a Half Men's Jon Cryer, disagrees. "Yes, she said that the guy whom Duckie was based on was gay. It's a different thing. Let's be clear here," he told Zap2it. "No, she actually said that if one projected beyond the movie, that Duckie would be out by now. And I respectfully disagree."

Either way, the timing of Ringwald's comments are particularly interesting, as her character on ABC Family's The Secret Life of the American Teenager is about to come out as a lesbian in the show's upcoming season.

What do you think? Do Andie and Duckie belong 2-getha 4-eva? Or can you kind of see what she's saying?
