Jersey Shore's Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino has reportedly checked into rehab for substance abuse, TMZ.com reports.
The MTV reality star "has spent the past several weeks at an undisclosed location for much needed rest and recuperation after his extensive production and appearance schedule," a rep for Sorrentino said in a statement. The rep declined to comment on the report's claim that Sorrentino is in rehab to treat substance abuse.

The news comes one day after MTV announced the renewal of Jersey Shore for a sixth season, which has not yet begun production. It remains unclear whether Sorrentino's time in rehab will affect production on Jersey Shore. A rep for MTV did not immediately respond.
