Michael Strahan has confirmed he's joining Good Morning America.

The former football star announced the news during Wednesday's Live! with Kelly and Michael. "The big news is I'm going to be on GMA now," Strahan said. "No matter what, this is going to be my No. 1 priority. You are my No. 1 priority," he told his co-host Kelly Ripa.

Strahan will appear on GMA during the 7 a.m. hour, before hosting Live! at 9 a.m., according toCNNMoney. Strahan, who said he found out that news had broken about his GMA gig Tuesdaynight after a movie screening, added that he doesn't think he would appear on GMA daily. "I have a lot going on," he said. "I have to be smart about it."

Over the weekend, it was announced that Josh Elliott was leaving the morning show for NBC Sports. Contributor Amy Robach was upped to anchor in his place. The announcement came on the heels of Lara Spencer negotiating a new multi-year contract with the network.
