Michael Sam's OWN docu-series has been postponed amid concerns that the reality show would prove too distracting for his new team, the St. Louis Rams, E! News reports.
Out and proud celebs
The show was set to chronicle Sam's experience as the first openly gay athlete in the NFL, but after meeting with the Rams, the network agreed to hold off on the project, "allowing Michael the best opportunity to achieve his dream of making the team," Sam's agent, Cameron Weiss said in a statement.
"This will allow for Michael to have a total focus on football, and will ensure no distractions to his teammates. Everybody involved remains committed to this project and understands its historical importance as well as its positive message," Weiss said.
