Mentalist Scoop: Patrick Jane to Lock Horns with The Shield's Catherine Dent

A female FBI agent is going to make waves on The Mentalist this season.

TVGuide.com has learned that The Shield star Catherine Dent will appear in multiple Season 4 episodes as Special Agent Susan Darcy, a seasoned and assertive FBI agent who often downplays her intelligence to get what she wants without causing friction. Even so, she's sure to rub a few people the wrong way: As we previously reported, her character will but heads with Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) and Agent Lisbon (Robin Tunney) when she takes over one of their cases.
"She suspects there's more to the Red John story than Jane or the CBI is telling her," creator and executive producer Bruno Heller tells TVGuide.com. "Over the course of the season, she will try to get under Jane's skin and inside his head to find the truth. Jane's not the only one who knows how to use deception and mind games to crack a mystery."

Dent, who's also held recent recurring roles on NCIS and A&E's Breakout Kings, will first appear on the fourth season's seventh episode, which will be directed by Baker. It will air Nov. 3.
The Mentalist premieres Thursday at 10/9c on CBS.
