Matt's Weekend Picks: September 3-5
CAMP ROCK 2: THE FINAL JAM (Friday, 8/7c, Disney Channel)
Tween alert! Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers are back in a sequel to the 2008 hit TV-movie, which finds the music-oriented Camp Rock threatened by the snooty new Camp Star across the lake. You know what that means — an end-of-summer performance duel to save the camp's reputation and future. A "Rock Along" sing-along version of the movie airs Saturday, and a "Dance Jam" edition airs Sunday, with a making-of look at the dance numbers.
RUBICON (Sunday, 9/8c, AMC)
It's been a slow and steady build for this conspiracy spy drama — calling it a thriller may be overstating the case — but it looks as if things are getting stickier, as the FBI puts API on lockdown after suspecting a leak at the think tank. Meanwhile, newly widowed Catherine Rhumor realizes her home isn't a safe haven anymore. Time to join the rest of the paranoids.
LEVERAGE (Sunday, 9/8c, TNT)
In the summer finale of this caper series, the team pulls a scam on a violent hedge-fund manager to get him to reveal information that could lead to the ever-elusive master criminal Damien Moreau. The ruse involves making the dupe think he's murdered Parker — but what they don't realize is this latest con may have put an assassin's bull's-eye on their target.
THE GATES (Sunday, 10/9c, ABC)
Such strange bedfellows there are in this gated community of the supernatural. When the adopted daughter of neighborhood vamps Dylan and Claire is kidnapped, the Radcliffs turn to Sheriff Nick for help. But as they venture beyond The Gates, Nick is unnerved by what he learns about their fang-tastic past. Meanwhile, Nick's wife Sarah gets a bit too nosy about the case, while their son Charlie wakes up to the fact that he's living among non-humans. (OK, it's not True Blood, but that one's on holiday hiatus before the season finale.)
