Tim Robbins' Mother, Musician Mary Robbins, Dies 12 Days After His Father

Musician Mary Robbins, the mother of actor Tim Robbins, has died, The Associated Press reports. She was 78.
Robbins died Sunday at her home in Esteban Cantu, Mexico, of a heart arrhythmia just 12 days after her husband, Gil Robbins, died of prostate cancer at 80. The couple had been married for 59 years.

Robbins studied music at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she met her future husband in the college marching band. She later played professionally in the 1950s.

She "had a calm and cheerful demeanor, a sharp wit, a gentle spirit and a generous and loving heart," the Oscar winner said of his mother.
Robbins is survived by four children and four grandchildren.
