Martha Stewart: What Rachael Ray Does is "Not Good Enough for Me"

Martha Stewart, Rachael Ray

What Rachael Ray does is "not good enough for me," Martha Stewart tells ABC's Nightline.

In an interview airing Thursday, Stewart says Ray confessed to her that she "cannot bake," adding that Ray "just did a new cookbook which is just a re-edit of a lot of her old recipes. ... I mean, I really want to write a book that is a unique and lasting thing."

The Martha Stewart Show combines cooking, gardening and design tips while Ray's show focuses on food and celebrity guests. The two TV personalities appeared together for the first time on Stewart's show earlier this month.

"She's different. She's — she's more of an entertainer ... with her bubbly personality, than she is a teacher, like me," Stewart says. "That's not what she's professing to be ... She's just a totally different kind of cook than I am."

A rep for the syndicated The Rachael Ray Show would not comment on Stewart's remarks. Ray herself shared her thoughts on Stewart's comments with ABC News.

"Her skill set is far beyond mine. That's simply the reality of it. That doesn't mean that what I do isn't important, too ... I don't consider it needling. I really just think she's being honest," Ray says. "She does have a better skill set than I do when it comes to producing a beautiful, perfect, high-quality meal. I'd rather eat Martha's than mine, too."
