Actress Marta Heflin Dies at 68

Marta Heflin, the Broadway star and film actress who was the niece of actor Van Heflin andAll My Children star Frances Heflin, died Sept. 18 after a lengthy illness, The New York Times reports. She was 68.
Born in Washington, Heflin went on to have a successful career on stage and screen. She was a frequent collaborator of director Robert Altman in both Broadway productions and films such as 1979's A Perfect Couple. She also appeared in Martin Scorsese's 1983 film The King of Comedy. Her stage credits included roles in Jesus Christ Superstar, Hair and Fiddler on the Roof.

Heflin also appeared on the NBC soap The Doctors and in several television movies, including 1980s Playing for Time with Vanessa Redgrave.
