The Desperate Housewives creator is developing a new drama, Hallelujah, for ABC, Variety reports. The show will revolve around the town of Hallelujah, Tenn., which is being torn apart by the forces of good and evil. Its fortunes change when a stranger comes to Hallelujah, bringing justice, peace and faith.

Cherry will write the project and will serve as executive producer alongside Sabrina Wind. He remains under contract with Desperate Housewives through its ninth season in 2013. The show's stars, however, are only signed through the end of this season.
