During a sit-down interview with Katie Couric, the host played voicemails left for Notre Dame football star Manti Te'o from the person who pretended to be his girlfriend. Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man allegedly behind the hoax, is reportedly the voice on the recordings, although the voice sounds like that of a woman.

The girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, was the product of an elaborate hoax, which came to light last week, that involved a faked death and numerous falsified social media accounts in service of an inspiring story: a Heisman-candidate linebacker winning a football game hours after his girlfriend tragically passed away after a battle with leukemia.
