Authorities have arrested a man in the secret nude filming of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews naked at her hotel, according to E!

Michael David Barrett was arrested on a charge of interstate stalking after filming Andrews naked in her hotel room and then trying to sell the tape, authorities said. A federal magistrate in Chicago ordered him sent back to Los Angeles, where the charges were filed.

"I hope that today's action will help the countless others who have been similarly victimized," said Andrews in a statement. "I will make every effort to strengthen the laws on a state and federal level to better protect victims of criminal stalking. I am also grateful to those who have expressed their concerns and good wishes for my family and me."

Andrews' lawyers are confident that Barrett's arrest "is a welcome step in bringing this investigation to a successful close," E! reports.

On Monday, Barrett is due back in the U.S. District Court in Chicago to determine his if he's eligible for bail or if he'll remain in custody until a hearing date in Los Angeles.
