MTV's Teen Wolf Series Takes Shape

MTV's plans for a TV series based on Fox's film Teen Wolf — a project first announced in January — is closer to fruition after the network ordered a pilot presentation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The potential series will be "very different" from the 1985 flick, in which Fox starred as a teen who discovers he is a werewolf, said Liz Gateley, senior vice president of series development.
"It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it," she said. "It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques."
Teen Wolf is the latest '80s film being re-jiggered for millennial TV. Fox is developing a series based on Heathers, while ABC is reigniting St. Elmo's Fire.
