Police Say Lindsay Lohan Lied About Car Accident, Probation Could Be Revoked

Lindsay Lohan

Police say Lindsay Lohan lied to officials about not being behind the wheel in her Friday car accident and, as a result, her probation could be revoked, TMZ reports.

Lohan, 25, was briefly hospitalized Friday after her Porsche slammed into an 18-wheeler on the Pacific Coast Highway on Friday. When she was in the hospital, Lohan told Santa Monica police that she was a passenger in the car and that her assistant was driving. However, her assistant later told police that Lohan was driving at the time of the wreck.

Lindsay Lohan released from hospital after car crash

Lohan and her assistant both got out of the passenger side when the car crashed, sources told TMZ. Shortly after the crash, Lohan first said the accident was caused by the truck driver, who cut her off, but when the truck driver denied this claim, she claimed her rental car's brakes failed.

Police are writing a report that includes the conflicting information, TMZ reports. It is a crime to give false information to a police officer, and doing so could mean a probation violation in her shoplifting case. It's unclear if Lohan would be sent to jail for violating her probation, or if the violation could affect her starring role in the upcoming Lifetime TV movie Liz and Dick.
