ABC Developing The Lincoln Lawyer Series

Matthew McConaughey

The Lincoln Lawyer's next stop: TV.

ABC is adapting the Michael Connelly novel-turned-movie into a drama series, Variety reports. Connelly will co-write the pilot with John Romano, who penned the film.

The movie, which opened in March and got a warm critical but tepid box-office reception (grossing $58 million domestically), starred Matthew McConaughey as criminal defense lawyer Mickey Haller who lands the case of his career. Ryan Phillippe, Marisa Tomei and William H. Macy co-starred.

The film took its name from the title of the first book in Connelly's Haller series; there are four novels in total, the most recent of which was published in April. Haller is the half-brother of Connelly's most well-known character, Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch.

Should The Lincoln Lawyer go to series, Connelly ought to feel right at home at ABC. He occasionally drops by Castle as himself — a guest at Castle's mystery writers poker nights.
