Lifetime Prepares for the Royal Wedding with William & Kate
Camilla Luddington and Nico Evers-Swindell
A royal romance gets the Hollywood treatment when newcomers Nico Evers-Swindell and Camilla Luddington star as small-screen versions of Britain's Prince William and his fiancée, Kate Middleton.
While the engagement was eight years in the making, Lifetime wasted no time filming this biopic to ensure its debut before Will and Kate tie the knot on April 29. "It all happened so fast," says New Zealand actor Evers-Swindell. Adds his British-born costar, "We had about eight days from when I got the role to shooting. I've never had that short amount of time to prepare for something, and it's a daunting task when you know it's about a couple that is really in the spotlight."
Beginning with their first meeting as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland and continuing until the future king pops the question in Kenya, the movie is described by Evers-Swindell as "the trials and tribulations of two very different worlds colliding and how they overcome those obstacles."
And what about the fairy tale? Luddington promises there's plenty of that, too. After all, she felt a bit like Cinderella playing the future princess of England. "It was like getting to play dress-up as an adult," gushes Luddington. "It was awesome!"
William & Kate airs Monday at 9/8c on Lifetime.
