Lifetime Developing TV Movie About So-Called 'Craigslist Killer'

Philip Markoff

A TV movie about the so-called Craigslist Killer is in the works at Lifetime, Variety reports.

Philip Markoff was given the name after he was accused of killing a woman he met through Craigslist in April 2009. He committed suicide Aug. 15 in a Boston jail cell while awaiting trial.

The movie, in development before Markoff's death, would focus on his apparent double life. Markoff was engaged and a Boston University medical student when he was arrested in the shooting of Julissa Brisman. He was also accused of robbing a Las Vegas woman and attacking a stripper.

Prosecutors allege Markoff met all three women by answering erotic service ads on Craigslist.

Donald Martin and Stephen Tolkin are writing the script, and Stephen Kay (The Hunt for the BTK Killer) is slated to direct.
