LeBron James' empire is expanding into TV.
Starz has picked up a scripted comedy, titled Survivor's Remorse, executive-produced by James, Tom Werner (That '70s Show, Roseanne), Maverick Carter and Paul Wachter. Glee vet Mike O'Malley, who has also written for Shameless, will serve as writer and executive producer.
Most memorable Winter Olympics moments
Set in the world of professional basketball, Survivor's Remorse follows Cam Calloway after he signs a multi-million dollar contract with an NBA team in Atlanta and is subsequently thrown into the limelight. Cam and his cousin/confidant Reggie Vaughn move to Georgia and must confront the challenges of helping opportunistic family members as well as the impoverished community they come from.
"Ever since I got cut from the freshman hoop team at Bishop Guertin High School in 1980, I've wanted to write about my love and hatred of basketball," O'Malley said in a statement. "Starz has given us great freedom to explore an authentic world inspired by Maverick and LeBron. Tom's legendary TV career and his experiences as a professional sports owner combined with Paul's wealth of business and entertainment industry relationships have given this team a truly strong foundation to build a successful series."

Added Starz CEO Chris Albrecht: "Mike has infused the world of Survivor's Remorse with humor and heart. Along with LeBron, Maverick, Tom and Paul, we feel we really have an all-star team to capture the complexity and comedy inherent to this series."
James also executive-produced the 2008 documentary More Than a Game, in which he starred. Aside from his recurring role on Glee as Burt Hummel, O'Malley most recently starred in the short-lived sitcom Welcome to the Family.
The six-episode first season of Survivor's Remorse will premiere in fall 2014 on Starz. Will you watch?
