Whether it's a take on Mel Gibson's anti-Semitic rant or Jon & Kate Plus 8, the Law & Order franchise frequently has used news headlines as story fodder.

Now, spinoff Law & Order: Los Angeles is taking a page from one of 2009's biggest newsmakers: Tiger Woods. In "Playa Vista," airing Wednesday at 10/9c on NBC, the team investigates a pro golfer's murder. The episode also deals with what happens after a marriage breaks apart (much like a certain golfer) and the children are stuck in the middle.
