Laura Prepon to Play Chelsea Handler

Laura Prepon has landed the lead in Chelsea Handler's NBC comedy pilot Are You There, Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, TV Line reports.

Based on Handler's best-selling book of the same name and inspired by her life, the project follows a group of twentysomethings living and working together. Prepon will play Chelsea Hanson, a single and opinionated cocktail waitress who is open about loving to drink and have sex.

NBC orders comedy pilots from Chelsea Handler and Whitney Cummings

Handler will serve as an executive producer along with Tom Werner, Mike Clements (Life and Times of Tim) and Tom Brunelle. Julie Larson (Rent) and Dottie Dartland Zicklin (Dharma & Greg) wrote the pilot.

The project marks a return to series television for Prepon, who starred on That '70s Show and October Road. She most recently guest-starred on Castle.
