ER Alum Laura Innes Joins NBC's Awake

ER alum Laura Innes has found herself a plum role -- on and off camera — in NBC's midseason drama, Awake, TVLine reports.
Awake follows a police detective, Michael, (Jason Isaacs) who switches between two realities in the wake of a brutal car accident. In one reality, his wife died, and in the other, his son did.
Innes will recur on the series as Captain Tricia Harper, Michael's smart and compassionate boss. The actress will also direct one or two episodes of the series this season.

Innes, 54, earned three Emmy nominations over her 12-season run on ER for her portrayal of Dr. Kerry Weaver. She has also directed episodes of ER, The West Wing, House and Brothers and Sisters. Innes most recently starred on NBC's short-lived sci-fi series The Event.
