Hillary Scott and Chris Tyrell

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott celebrated the nation's independence by declaring her co-dependence.

The "Need You Now" singer became engaged to her drummer boyfriend, Chris Tyrell, over the Fourth of July holiday weekend, People reports.

Lady Antebellum: "Need You Now" completely changed our world

"Chris proposed exactly the way I've always dreamed," Scott tells the magazine. "Our families were close by, but it was just us out on a beautiful deck overlooking a lake in East Tennessee. We had just been on a hike and — in our workout clothes — he hit the knee! We feel so blessed by God that He sent us each other, and we are looking so forward to forever together!"

Scott, 25, and Tyrell, 24, met while they were both parts of opening acts -- Lady Antebellum and Love and Theft, respectively -- for Tim McGraw's 2010 Southern Voice Tour. Tyrell then became Lady Antebellum's lead drummer for the trio's Need You Now tour.

There's no word on a wedding date yet, but it will likely have to wait a while. Lady Antebellum, which also includes bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood, is on tour this summer and will release a new album in September. Meanwhile, Tyrell will be drumming for Eden's Edge on Brad Paisley's H20 II tour.
