The Killing may not be dead after all.

Showrunner Veena Sud and executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin are reportedly back in the writers' room hammering out story for a third season, according to Variety.

Is AMC resurrecting The Killing?

The Killing, which was axed after two seasons by AMC in July, could return to the cable network as early as May, though it's still unclear what the show's return would look like. In November, reports surfaced that AMC was trying to work out a deal with Netflix in which the online streaming site would share costs for the third season, with the show airing on AMC first before becoming available on Netflix. Variety reports the deal is still being worked out. AMC declined to comment.

When AMC announced The Killing's cancellation in July, the studio issued a statement saying it would "try to find another home for the show." In August, both Netflix and DirecTV were reportedly in negotiations with Fox Television Studios, which produces The Killing, to pick it up for a third season.
