Kendra Wilkinson Talks New Series, Fending for Herself and Stripper-Poles
Kendra Wilkinson has moved out of the Playboy mansion of Girls Next Door, but the Playmate is keeping the cameras rolling for the next chapter in her life with her new series Kendra (premieres Sunday, June 7 at 10 pm/ET on E!).
TVGuide.com caught up with Hugh Hefner's ex via email to find out how it's going fending for herself, what kind of wedding she's planning with fiancé Hank Baskett and how she's using her in-house stripper-pole to keep in shape for the big day.
TVGuide.com: Why did you decide to do this show after being on a reality show for several years?
Kendra Wilkinson: I had so much fun doing Girls Next Door, and I wanted the next chapter in my life to be like a home video that I can have forever. Plus, the team I work with is amazing, so when I found out I would get to work with a lot of the same people, I was all for it. They're like family.
TVGuide.com: What has been the hardest part about fending for yourself?
Kendra: Everything's hard! I'm still trying to learn how to cook. Cooking doesn't seem hard; it's just finding the time. My dogs are hard too. At the mansion, they could run around and they were picked up after. It took me a while to get used to picking up after them! My favorite part [of living on my own] is the freedom and knowing that I'm in my own place. At first it was really scary, but now I'm more comfortable, and I really like living on my own.
TVGuide.com: What are your relationships like with Bridget and Holly now that you aren't under the same roof?
Kendra: I feel our relationship has gotten stronger since we moved out because we're all living our dreams right now. We stay in touch all the time, and they're even bridesmaids in my wedding.
TVGuide.com: How is the wedding planning going?
Kendra: It's going great! A lot of nerves and emotions, but at the same time I feel like I'm glowing because I know it's finally time to marry the love of my life. It's an indescribable feeling.
TVGuide.com: What kind of wedding are you envisioning for you and Hank?
Kendra: A princess fairytale wedding.
TVGuide.com: What are you looking forward to — or not looking forward to — about being a wife?
Kendra: I'm looking forward to waking up every morning next to my best friend and the person that truly makes me happy, and starting a family with him. I'm least looking forward to cooking and cleaning. That's no fun!
TVGuide.com: How's your new line of stripper-pole workouts going? Did you install one in your new house?
Kendra: It's such a good workout, especially before my wedding. I want to be in perfect shape. The pole was the first thing I had installed! It's my centerpiece.
