Kelly Clarkson Drafted to Perform National Anthem at Super Bowl

Let's hope this goes better than it did at last year's big game!

Kelly Clarkson will perform the national anthem at Super Bowl XLVI, The Associated Press reports.

Clarkson joins previously announced musical acts Madonna, Nicki Minaj and M.I.A., who will all perform during the halftime show.

Clarkson will be the third American Idol winner to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" at the big game, following Jordin Sparks and Carrie Underwood. Last year, Christina Aguilera flubbed the lyrics and sang "what so proudly we watched, at the twilight's last reaming" instead of "o'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming."

Super Bowl XLVI will air live from Indianapolis on Sunday, Feb. 5 on NBC. Clarkson will appear on another NBC program — The Voice — as an adviser on Blake Shelton's team later this year.
